# sampling plan ## Assignment Directions On a Word documents, respond to the following questions/prompts: 1. What is your current research question(s)? How do early career principals feel about their professional development as a leader. As in what type of professional development helps them become a better leader, not a better manager. We will focus on leadership development as described by Thirlby (2022) 2. My intended sample (participants in your study) consists of (state who and how many): Probably needs to be small. Maybe 15 at the most. Otherwise it will be too unwieldy to manage. 3. Key demographics (characteristics of the sample) are as follows (e.g. age range, sex distribution, ethnic breakdown, socioeconomic status, location, where are these subjects located?: I’ll focus on early-career principals, year 3-5, who are principals, not assistants, and have been in the same district for their entire experience. 4. State what type of sample you plan to use (i.e. convenience, purposive, simple random, stratified random, cluster, systemic). Purposive, looking for folks for whom they need to talk it out, and are auditory learners. Could also use podcasting as a medium for 5. Explain how you expect to gain access to or contact your sample. What steps will you take?  I have a large network of principals I could reach out to people on facebook groups, and in other places where they are looking for support, as well. I could even exclusively look at people who are in facebook groups posting support requests. 6. What, if any, inclusion/exclusion criteria will you have for participation in your study? I wan to focus on people who are of a specific learning persuasion, using multiple intelligences framework, as a way to narrow down who I’m working with. 1. External validity: To whom do you think you can generalize the results of your study? By using some sort of exclusion criteria, I should be able to generalize it to specify which type of people this will be generalized towards. For example, if you are a kinesthetic learner, you may not have the patience for a zoom meeting once a week to dive deep into someone’s problems. If you’re an auditory learner, you may find more success in that kind of professional development. ## Assignment So, yes, for this assignment, I did make it into a word doc.
